I currently work as a Senior Lecturer at Taylor’s University in Subang, Malaysia. My PhD degree from Lancaster University, UK, was made possible with the support from RADMA Doctoral Studies Funding, and my supervisors, Prof. Alfredo De Massis and Associate Prof. Josip Kotlar. Prior to my PhD, I obtained my Master of Research in Management Sciences from ESADE Business School in Spain and MBA degree from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.

With my prior experience of advising family firms in Indonesia, I have since then developed strong interest in researching family business due to their unique characteristics. Started with MBA dissertation on the topic of governance in family business, the topic has since evolved into collaborative innovation in family firms in my doctoral research. As indicated in the title of my PhD dissertation, Collaborative Innovation in Family Firms: Collaborating within and beyond, I looked into both internal and external aspects of the collaboration. My PhD dissertation opted for the alternative format, in the form of three publishable papers. The first paper takes the form of literature review with proposed future research framework organised in three research streams has been published in Journal of Family Business Strategy. Second paper focuses on the internal aspect of collaborations in family firm using transaction cost approach has been published in Journal for International Business and Entrepreneurship Development. Specifically, the paper examines how the collaborations between R&D and other departments attribute to the attainment of new product development in family firm. The third paper uses a multiple case study approach to examine the role of institutional support in the formation of international collaborative innovation, sampling on an innovation programme run by a university in the UK. The paper has been accepted to present at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting 2018 in Chicago and has received valuable feedbacks to further improve for publication.

In my current job as a Senior Lecturer, I teach family business and entrepreneurship related subjects at undergraduate level, supervise dissertations at PhD level, provide consultations to family business and startups, coaching entrepreneurs, as well as continue my research on the topic of collaborative innovation.
