Opportunities to join the RADMA team
RADMA, the R&D Management Association, is looking for people to join our team in different capacities.
Trustees
We are looking for some new trustees.
Trustees should be actively involved in R&D Management or a very closely related field. It is fine to be retired but still active in the field.
RADMA trustees are appointed as trustees of the charity and directors of RADMA, a company limited by guarantee. There are legal duties to these roles. You must be prepared to disclose your age/date of birth (for Companies House/Charities Commission) and provide a form of photographic ID verification (for financial regulation).
The role of a RADMA trustee is more than governance. So everyone should have enough time and motivation to do more than the bare minimum of coming to three meetings a year. RADMA runs a funding scheme for postgraduate research and all trustees are asked to referee such applications two or three times a year. There are plenty of things that need doing.
Trustees should not, of course, seek to promote their own businesses or institutions through RADMA. They are asked to declare any conflicts of interest at the start of each meeting.
Trustees are drawn roughly equally from academia and the practitioner community. Practitioner trustees should not feel out of place in an academic setting and likewise, academic trustees should have a strong interest in practice.
Trustees should be UK-based (or able to come to meetings in the UK without high travelling costs to RADMA). There are three trustee meetings per year, normally in February, May and September/October. The May meeting has recently been held in Oxford and involves an overnight stay. The other meetings are typically by conducted over Zoom.
Trustees are not paid but can claim travelling or other expenses as incurred.
There are several committees and trustees are expected to take an active role in those they are members of.
If you are interested in becoming a RADMA trustee please contact us before 31st October 2024. We would be happy to discuss the role informally
PhD Application Reviewers
We are looking for PhD reviewers.
RADMA offers a small number of students funding towards PhD research in R&D Management. We normally have five to ten times the number of applicants, so it is necessary to review applications and score them for relevance, quality, and so on. We are looking for individuals with experience of selecting and supervising PhD students to join our panel of reviewers. This is an annual exercise (April through to June) and each reviewer will be sent up to eight applications. All reviewers are paid a small honorarium for their contribution.
Trustees cannot act as PhD reviewers.
If you are interested in becoming a PhD reviewer please contact us before 31st October 2024.
R&D Management Journal Book Reviewers
We are looking for book reviewers.
The R&D Management Journal publishes book reviews. Reviewers should be able to critically assess books and write engaging commentaries. This is an occasional task for most reviewers.
If you are interested in becoming a book reviewer you may contact us at any time.
If you would like to put yourself forward for any of these roles, please email info@radma.net
